# Example Welcome Series

## Example: Rideshare Drivers United Welcome Series

The **RDU Welcome Series** is a powerful automation that guides new supporters through the process of understanding and engaging with the Rideshare Drivers United organization. The ultimate goal of this series is to welcome new members, encourage voting on key issues, and ultimately get them to schedule a call with an organizer.

This automation combines personalized emails and text messages, with decision points to ensure the right content is sent based on supporter actions and roles.

### Key Elements and Functionality

* **Multiple Variations of Messages**: Texts and emails in this automation can have multiple variations, which are chosen at random for each recipient. This allows you to test different messages for effectiveness. To see how each variation performs, click the chart button on the email or text step card. The counts show for each variation.

* **Direct and Indirect Asks**: The automation alternates between direct and indirect asks to engage supporters in different ways:
  * **Direct Asks**: Encouraging supporters to schedule a call directly or make a donation.
  * **Indirect Asks**: Asking supporters to vote on demands or sort issues, which then redirects them to schedule a call afterward.

* **Goal-Driven Redirects**: After submitting the voting forms, supporters are automatically redirected to the **Schedule a Call** page, which is the main goal of this automation.

### Workflow Breakdown of the RDU Welcome Series

**Trigger**: **Person Record Creation**\
**Goal**: **Schedules a Call**

#### Step-by-Step Workflow:

1. **Trigger**: When a new supporter is added, either through manual or automated enrollment, the RDU Welcome Series begins.

2. **Delay**: Wait for **5 minutes** before sending the first email to allow the new sign-up to process.

3. **Decision Step**: A Decision step checks a filter. Here, the filter checks whether the supporter is a "Rideshare Driver" or a "Food Delivery Driver."
   * **If Rideshare Driver** or **Food Delivery Driver**: The supporter continues on the main path.
     * **Email 1B**: "Welcome to Rideshare Drivers United – Let’s Build Our Union Together."\
*This email encourages scheduling a call and includes a "Donate" option at the end.*
   * **If Community supporter**: The supporter goes to the No branch.
     * **Email 1A**: "Stand with Drivers Building a Democratic Union - Welcome to RDU."
   * The No branch never rejoins the main path. The automation ends for a supporter when the last step of the No branch runs.

4. **Delay**: Wait **5 days** after the initial email to avoid overwhelming the supporter.

5. **Send Text**: Encourage the supporter to vote on the issues they're passionate about.
   * **Text Message Example**: "Rideshare Drivers United is democratic and run by drivers. Vote on the issues you're ready to fight for: \{\{ action-page.vote-on-demands }}."
   * This text message has **3 variations**, and one is chosen at random each time it's sent. The **Vote on Demands** page leads to an engagement where they vote on key issues, and after submission, it redirects them to the **Schedule a Call** page.

6. **Delay**: Wait **7 days** before the next step.

7. **Send Email**: A direct ask to schedule a call.
   * **Email 2**: "Let's Unite – Schedule a Call with Rideshare Drivers United."
   * This email includes a strong call to action for them to schedule a call with an organizer.

8. **Decision Step**: Determine if the supporter submitted the **Vote On Demands** page.
   * **If Yes**: Send a follow-up email reinforcing their participation.
     * **Email 3**: "Join Us in Building Our Union – Your Voice Makes Us Stronger."
   * **If No**: The supporter runs only the steps inside the No branch, then leaves the automation. Only supporters who match reach the next delay on the main path.

9. **Delay**: Wait **3 weeks** before the next action.

10. **Send Text**: Another direct ask for scheduling a call.
    * **Text Message Example**: "Hi \{\{ user.first-name }}, we’re drivers building our own rideshare worker union. Schedule a call with a fellow driver-organizer here \{\{ action-page.schedule-call }}."
    * This text serves as a reminder to encourage scheduling a call.

11. **Send Final Email**: Encourage continued participation and engagement.
    * **Email 4**: "Together We Win – Help Prioritize Our Union's Goals."
    * This email highlights how supporters can prioritize the union's goals and reiterates the importance of getting involved.

12. **Delay**: Wait **4 weeks** before the final text reminder.

13. **Send Text**: A final reminder text to schedule a call.
    * **Text Message Example**: "Hi \{\{ user.first-name }}, we’re drivers building our own rideshare worker union. Schedule a call with a fellow driver-organizer here \{\{ action-page.schedule-call }}."

### Summary

The RDU Welcome Series is designed to onboard new supporters by providing key information and guiding them toward meaningful actions. Through a series of emails and text messages, supporters are introduced to your organization and prompted to engage, such as by scheduling a call with an organizer. Decision steps ensure that each supporter receives personalized messages based on their specific actions, making the process more relevant and effective. The goal is to move supporters from initial interest to active participation.

By using Solidarity Tech's automation features, organizers can deliver timely, personalized messages to new members, maximizing the likelihood of active participation and contributing to the growth of the movement.
